FAQ

  • What is the residency fee, and what does it cover?

The residency fee is €2,000 and covers accommodations, two meals per day, excursions, and participation in the final exhibition.

  • Are materials provided?

Residents are responsible for bringing their own materials or tools for their creative work. However, there is a small shop on the island with art supplies, hardware stores, and online shops that can ship supplies to the island with enough time in advance.

  • How many participants are accepted?

We accept 10 artists per cohort.

  • Do I need to have a completed or ongoing project to apply?

No, but you do need to apply with a project idea in mind and explain how you would like to spend your time with us on Skiathos. This could be the start of a new exploration or a continuation of an existing project. While the project does not need to be fully completed during your time with us, it should reflect your creative goals and serve as a foundation for your work at Lago Skiathos.

  • How physical are the physical activities?

There are two strongly encouraged walks/hikes that can be physically demanding for some. You will need proper hiking shoes to do these activities.

All other activities (swimming, snorkeling, spearfishing, etc) are at the discretion of the resident.

  • When do applications open and what is the deadline to apply?

Applications will open on Sunday, June 1, 2025 and close on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at midnight CST.

  • When will I know when I am accepted?

Notification of Acceptance: Friday, June 20, 2025.

  • Is there anything else I should know about the property?

Yes! The property has two dogs, one cat, sheep, chickens, various fruit trees/pollens and neighboring properties that keep bees.

  • How should I expect to spend time at the Villa and on Skiathos in general?

This is a self directed residency, however, much programming has been thoughtfully planned for the entire cohort that punctuates dedicated periods of work time, which you are encouraged to spend in creative pursuits or your craft.

Skiathos is a stunning destination and while you absolutely should take the time to enjoy it like a tourist on vacation, remember you are an artist doing a residency.

  • Is anything expected of me outside of my work and project?

Yes! Outside of being supportive and kind to your peers and organizers, you will be expected to lightly help in keeping your space clean, cleaning up after meals and setting up for the final exhibition party.
